Brenham Saxophone player Jack Carr was recently inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Carr joined the list of such greats as Bob Wills, Floyd Tillman, and Ray Benson.

He and his wife, Jamie, took part in the three-day event.

During the ceremony, Carr got to play on stage with Joe Settlemires of the Texas Playboys, who was the last guitar player for Bob Wills, and Charlie Archer, who was the steel guitarist for Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty.

Carr received commendation letters from both Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt congratulating him on his induction, and thanking him for his contributions to Western swing music.

During the Christmas season, Carr has been a regular performer at Santa’s Wonderland, where he is known as the “King of Christmas Swing.”

In addition to Western swing, Carr plays gospel, big band, and favorites from the “Great American Songbook.”
