BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS TO FOUR WEEKEND CALLS

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls between mid-morning on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Around 9 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a home in the 1800 block of Lee Street for a gas leak.  They arrived and found the smell was coming from the meter area on the side of the house.  The fire department turned the scene over to the gas department.

Sunday at 1 p.m., the department went out to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for a fire alarm.  Units made location and found a bad smoke detector was causing the alarm to go off.  They reset the alarm, and employees contacted maintenance to get the smoke detector checked out.

Around 1:45 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were called out to the 1200 block of West Jefferson Street for a report of a vehicle fire.  When they made it to the scene, they did not find any fire, but the vehicle was having electrical issues.  Fire department personnel advised the owner to get the vehicle checked out by an automotive shop.

Then around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, the department was dispatched to a fire alarm at Melcher Hall, 601 Prairie Lea Street, on the Blinn College campus.  Personnel arrived and found the alarm was not sounding.  They walked the building and did not find anything that would have caused the alarm to go off.  They then reset the alarm and returned to service.
