If I wanted to be like Oklahoma or Colorado I would move there. I’m proud of my roots in Washington and Fayette Counties that never drank the kool aid to be in the “just because club” you know, “change our laws just because they did.” Most historic savvy Texans don’t need to dance to the music of other states, true rooted Texans know when those law breaking states are playing a polka that is off beat or out of tune.
I have never smoked a weed, and never will. I really don’t feel like I can lecture to one who does, while sitting here sipping on my Lone Star beer. As a 5th Generation Texan, I really don’t plan to go anywhere else, because I enjoy my Conservative Texas Roots too much.
Having just returned from Colorado and reading this, I certainly have mixed feelings about this, after seeing occasional Cannabis Stores alongside the roads.
Shortly after recreational marijuana use was legalized in Colorado, the Colorado State Police released a report that stated that in just under 1/3 of the traffic stops they made, the driver was determined to be under the influence of marijuana and could not safely operate the vehicle. While that should be an eye opener for anybody, anywhere, wanting to legalize marijuana, It seems as though it is not. The nearly 1/3 there, coupled with another 20% that might be under the influence of alcohol should make everyone who’s on the road sit up and take notice.
