THREE PEOPLE ARRESTED FRIDAY

Three people were arrested Friday by Brenham Police.

They report that Friday morning at 9:40, Officers were advised of a reported stolen vehicle was traveling towards Brenham on Highway 290 West. Officers located the vehicle as it entered the city limits and attempted to stop the vehicle. The stolen vehicle fled from officers initiating a pursuit on Highway 290 Traveling East bound.  Assisting units deployed a spike system at which time the vehicle swerved into the median and lost control causing the vehicle to roll over. The driver, Luis BaQuendano-Ponce, 22 of Austin, was not injured and placed into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail, charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle.

Then Friday evening at 6:20, Officers responded to the 200 block of U.S. Highway 290 West in reference to criminal trespass. Investigation revealed Stephen Maurer, 42 of Brenham, was also a wanted subject. Once officers arrived on the scene Maurer fled from officers; however, he was later captured after a short pursuit that ended in the 5000 block of Old Mill Creek Road. Maurer was placed into custody for Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Reckless Driving along with the active warrant for Theft of Property.

Then Friday evening at 7:40, Officer Ashley Rodriguez conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Gayhill Street and East Academy Street. Marijuana was located inside the vehicle during a probable cause search. A passenger, Billy Joe Patterson, 43 of Burton, was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 Oz. and transported to the Washington County Jail.
