Two Round Top-Carmine High School students talked about their time at Girls State during a recent meeting of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 and Auxiliary.

Maggie Salinas and Lucy Soto attended Texas Girls State, which ran this past summer from June 18-24.

The students and their families were honored by Legion and Auxiliary members with a catered meal. Prior to meal, they discussed the experience of attending the event, and the lessons that they learned while there.

The American Legion Auxiliary Texas Girls State involved over 500 students this year in a participatory program where each attendee becomes a part of the operation of her local, county, and state government.

Members of the Post and Auxiliary, faculty and staff of the school district, parents, and community members are encouraged to nominate Round Top-Carmine students to attend either the 2024 Girls State or 2024 Boys State.

Post #338 has pledged to support any students who are currently juniors and desire to attend the event.

Nominations should be sent to the RT-C High School Principal RaChelle Kuecker, or the RT-C High School Counselor Debra Foster.

The American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 and Ladies Auxiliary meet at 6:30pm on the first Thursday of each month at their hall located on State Highway 237 in Round Top.
