CUBS SET TO OPEN DISTRICT PLAY AT RICHMOND RANDLE

The Brenham Cub Football Team is scheduled to open district play later tonight (Friday) against the Richmond Randle Lions.

The two school are meeting for just the second time. Brenham defeated Randle 38-22 last year at Cub Stadium.

The Cubs are 2-2 on the season. They have non-district wins over Oakridge and Bryan. They also have two non-district losses to to Belton and New Braunfels.

Brenham is led by Junior QB Jordan Harvey, who has completed 49 of 80 pass attempts for 643 yards, three touchdowns, and just one interception.

Freshman RB Jakoby Dixon leads the Cub rushing attack with 56 carries for 351 yards, and four touchdowns.

Sophomore WR Chris Guidry is Harvey's favorite target in the early going with 10 catches for 280 yards and a touchdown.

For the Randle Lions, they won all four of their non-district games. Randle defeated Pasadena Memorial 47-0, Fort Bend Christian 31-0, Columbia 67-0, and Bryan 41-24.

Then, Randle lost to Lake Creek in their district opener 59-34 last week.

Coach Danny Youngs discussed what type of team the Cubs will be facing.

The Lions are led by Sophomore QB Tyler Skrabanek, who has completed 44 of 84 passes for 825 yards, 11 touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Their leading rusher is Freshman Landen Callis-Williams has carried the ball 69 times for 708 yards and seven touchdowns.

Randle's leading receiver is Senior Cortney Brown, who has 18 catches for 400 yards, and four touchdowns.

Kickoff is scheduled for tonight (Friday) at 7:30pm at Traylor Stadium in Rosenberg. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 7pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
