SIX WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

A two-vehicle accident with injuries was one of six calls reported for the Brenham Fire Department over the weekend.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a report of an illegal burn on Marcus Road, but was cancelled due to the burn pile being extinguished prior to their arrival.

At 2:15 p.m., the department was dispatched to the 2600 block of Highway 36 South for a two-vehicle accident.  BFD members made it to the location and began assessing the scene for injuries.  They found one patient was injured and provided patient care while waiting for EMS.  Once EMS arrived, care was turned over to them for further evaluation and transportation to the hospital.  Firefighters then worked on cleaning fluids leaking from both vehicles.  The roadway was cleared, and units returned to service.

Shortly after 5:15 p.m., the department was called out for a report of a structure fire in the 700 block of Davy Street.  When units arrived, they found a faulty microwave that was causing sparks and removed it from the home.

At 6:45 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 4000 block of Highway 36 South for a fire alarm, but were cancelled enroute due to the facility fixing the issue before they arrived.

Sunday at 10:30 a.m., BFD units responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the 1600 block of Highway 105.  A vehicle had a blown hose that was causing steam from under the hood.  Members made sure all occupants of the vehicle were okay and returned to service when they no longer needed the fire department’s assistance.

Then at 5:30 p.m., the department was called out to the 2900 block of Zientek Lane for an illegal burn.  Units found a small trash pile burning in the front yard.  They extinguished the fire and advised the homeowners of the active burn ban.  They returned to service once the fire was out.
