OIG PROMOTES BRENHAM NATIVE TO SERGEANT INSPECTOR

  

The Office of Inspector General has promoted a Brenham native to Sergeant Inspector 13 months after she had just been promoted to corporal.

Vanessa Martinez has been with the OIG since August 26, 2019.

The OIG is the primary law enforcement entity for the Texas Juvenile Justice Department responsible for the prevention, detection, and investigation of criminal activity involving TJJD interests. 

On August 1, 2022, Martinez was promoted to the Giddings Corporal for the uniformed division and sworn in at the state capitol. 

Then, on September 1, 2023, the OIG promoted Martinez to Sergeant Inspector where she will be overseeing the abuse, neglect, and exploitation investigations for the TJJD.

She was officially sworn in on September 18, 2023 at the Brown Heatly Building in Austin by OIG Chief Daniel Guajardo.

Martinez is a graduate of both Brenham High School, and Blinn College.

She is single mother with three daughters: Natalia, Oriana, and Valeria.   

In between raising her children, plus going to school and the police academy, Martinez managed to maintain a high GPA, and was named Blinn’s “Ms. Buccaneer” in 2014.

She began her law enforcement career with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in 2015.
