FIVE CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. THURSDAY

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Thursday.

Just after 1 p.m., firefighters were called out to the Mill Creek Residence Hall, 1192 Old Mill Creek Road on the Blinn Campus, for a fire alarm.  Before making the location, the department discovered they were doing a fire drill and returned to service.

Shortly before 2 p.m., units were dispatched to a fire alarm at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street.  They learned that a resident had pulled the alarm, which was reset prior to the department arriving.

After 5:30 p.m., the department was called back out to the Mill Creek Residence Hall for a report of a fire in a room.  Units made location and found a table that was smoking.  They used sink water to cool the table down before clearing the call.

At 5:45 p.m., firefighters went out to the 700 block of Pleasant View Avenue for a gas odor/leak.  The department stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department arrived before returning to service.

Just before 9:30 p.m., Brenham units were dispatched for a grass fire with the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department in the 13400 block of FM 1371.  Once all units made location, the two departments extinguished a large brush pile.  Once the fire was out, all units cleared the scene.
