EIGHT REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO RECEIVE MATCHING FUNDS FOR BRAZOS VALLEY GIVES

Contributions to local school districts and education foundations through the annual Brazos Valley Gives fundraiser will triple in value.

A grant of $40,000 from the Bryan-based Greater Texas Foundation to the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley will provide matching funds for eight public K-12 school districts and education foundations participating in Brazos Valley Gives.

Groups representing the Brenham, Burton, Caldwell, Somerville, Navasota, Centerville, Bryan and College Station ISDs will receive a 2:1 match for the first $2,500 they raise, meaning for every $1 donated, Greater Texas Foundation will give $2 more.  Each participating school district is eligible to receive up to $5,000 in matching funds through this grant.

Greater Texas Foundation President and CEO Sue McMillin said the organization’s goal is to “remove barriers to educational opportunity for young people across Texas.”  She said, “We are proud to support the students and teachers here in the communities where we live and work.”

Community Foundation President and CEO Patricia Gerling said, “Without a doubt, we are proud to support teachers who enrich the minds and creativity of our students daily, and what a great way to invest in their future.”

Early giving is open for Brazos Valley Gives.  The 18-hour day of online giving is Tuesday, October 17th
