“On the Exhale” by Martin Zimmerman will play from tomorrow (Thursday) to October 29th.  The one-woman drama, which examines the seductive power of weapons and the complexity of gun control in America, is the first Studio Series production in two seasons that will be staged in the more intimate Studio Space at Unity Theatre instead of the Main Stage.

When a senseless act of violence changes her life forever, a liberal college professor finds herself inexplicably drawn to the very weapon used to perpetrate the crime – and to the irresistible feeling of power that comes from holding life and death in her hands.  Peering down the barrel of a uniquely American crisis, she begins to suspect that when it comes to gun violence, we all may be a part of the problem.  The show is recommended for mature audiences.

Sophia Watt, who previously directed “Mark Twain’s The Diaries of Adam and Eve” and “Every Brilliant Thing” at Unity Theatre, will lead this production starring Callina Anderson, who is making her Unity debut.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Fridays, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

Tomorrow’s preview performance will have a talk-back session with the cast and crew after the show.  On Saturday, October 28th, the director will visit with the audience for half an hour before the performance.
