FLATONIA GETTING READY FOR 51ST ANNUAL CZHILISPIEL THIS WEEKEND

  

Residents of Flatonia are getting ready for this weekend’s celebration of the city’s Czech and German heritage at the 51st Annual Czhilispiel. 

The event is sponsored by the Flatonia Chamber of Commerce. 

The gates open Friday night with a biergarten, a carnival, arts and crafts booths, and plenty of food.

Music runs from 6pm-11pm featuring Art Hernandez, Grupo Actual, D.J. Luna, and D.J. Shindal.

On Saturday, in addition to the cook-offs, there will be a 5K Run in front of the Flatonia City Hall, a 3 Man Golf Scramble at the Flatonia Golf Course, a pie auction, Magician Jeffrey Jester, and a jalapeno eating contest.

Musical entertainment runs from 1:30pm-12:30am featuring Tim Lightyear, Bill Pekar, the Topo Chico Cowboys (Josh Grider and Drew Kennedy), Fritz Hoddie and the Fab 6, Sunny Sweeney, Cody Canada and the Departed, and the Texas Unlimited Band.

Czhilispiel wraps up on Sunday with the Grand Parade through downtown Flatonia at noon, a performance from the Flatonia High School Dazzlers and Cheerleaders, the FFA Egg Toss, a Halloween Costume Contest, and a car and truck show.

Sunday’s music runs from 10am-8pm, and will feature D’Vine Testament, Victor Rodriguez, the Blue Denim Band, and the Emotions.
