FAYETTE COUNTY LIFTS BURN BAN

Fayette County Courthouse

After receiving abundant rainfall over the past several days, Fayette County has announced the lifting of their burn ban.

The lift went into effect at 6am this (Tuesday) morning.

Fayette was the last remaining county with a burn ban still in effect.  All of the surrounding counties had previously lifted theirs.

County Judge Dan Mueller asks everyone to still exercise extreme care and caution when burning.

Fayette County Officials also advise local residents to plan the activity so that you are always present until the fire has completely burned out.

In addition to that, they ask that you call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department at 979-968-5856, or 743-HELP (743-4357) and advise them of your intent to burn.

Other suggestions include:

Start burns early in the morning and make sure they are extinguished before sunset (this is a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality rule).

If burning trash, please have a water hose nearby.

Do not burn in windy conditions.

Have a safe zone around the burn.

Do not leave burns unattended.

And lastly, if a burn gets out of control, call 9-1-1 immediately.
