WANTED FUGITIVE ARRESTED AND RETURNED TO AUSTIN COUNTY
A wanted fugitive that has been on the run for almost six years was located and returned to Austin County this past Friday.
33-year-old Romero Robinson was booked into the Austin County Jail on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Bail Jumping/Failure to Appear.
Robinson was listed as an active fugitive when he fled Austin County in 2017 in an attempt to evade law enforcement on the Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child charge.
An Austin County Sheriff’s Deputy, currently assigned to the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force, was given the task of tracking down Robinson.
The deputy, working jointly with the U.S. Marshals Task Force in California, was able to locate and arrest Robinson in Long Beach, California.
The U.S. Marshals Office processed and transported him from California to a federal correction facility in Texas.
The deputy then returned Robinson to the Austin County Jail.
The Austin County District Attorney’s Office also took part in the operation to as well.
