MIKE ELKO NAMED THE NEW HEAD COACH AT TEXAS A&M
Duke's Mike Elko was named yesterday (Monday) as the new head coach of the Texas A&M Aggies. He replaces his former boss Jimbo Fisher, who was fired with two games left in the current season.
Prior to accepting the Duke Head Coaching job, Elko was the A&M defensive coordinator for four seasons under Fisher.
As the head coach at Duke, Elko turned a 3-9 program into a 9-4 program in just one season. This past season, he led the Blue Devils to a 7-5 record.
Elko flew into Easterwood Airport in College Station yesterday (Monday) morning at 2am. Athletic Director Ross Bjork later released a statement confirming that he would be the new Head Coach of the Aggies.
Elko will make a base salary of $7 million per season, with a incentives to added based on the success of the team.
