FIVE CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. SUNDAY
The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls throughout the day on Sunday.
Shortly before 9:15 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to Stanpac USA at 801 Mangrum Street for smoke coming from the building. According to the department’s report, units arrived and found that the air compressor “blew up”, causing the smoke. The compressor was shut down and maintenance was called out. Once they arrived, the department cleared the scene.
Before 10 a.m., BFD members were called out to a home in the 600 block of West Third Street for a report of a structure fire. They made location and found that smoke was coming from a dishwasher in the house. Units checked the dishwasher and unplugged it for the resident, and they found that the issue was contained to the dishwasher.
Around 11:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in the 4700 block of Highway 290 East. No fire was found in the vehicle, but they did discover that the oil pan was cracked open, causing smoke. The department advised the driver that they would need a wrecker.
Just before 2:45 p.m., the department went to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for a fire alarm. Members made location to learn that employees had reset the alarm. Nothing was found after a check of the building.
At 6 p.m., units were called out to a crash in the 400 block of Highway 290 West, but were told by police upon arriving that their services were not needed.
