WALLER COUNTY HAS A NEW D.A.

Sean Whittmore and Elton Mathis Jr.
(Waller County D.A.)

For the first time in 17 years, Waller County has a new District Attorney.

Sean Whittmore was sworn into office by the man that preceded him as D.A., Elton Mathis Jr.

Mathis had been the Waller County D.A. until September 1 when he was appointed as judge for the newly created Waller County Court At-Law No.2.

Whittmore had been one of the assistant district attorneys under Mathis while he was in the D.A.’s office.

Governor Greg Abbott appointed Whittmore to fill the vacant D.A. position until the end of 2024, or until a successor is duly elected and qualified.

Previously, Whittmore served as an assistant attorney general for the Houston Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Texas Office of the Attorney General, as an associate attorney for Douglas Atkinson & Associates, and an assistant district attorney for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas County & District Attorneys Association.

Whittmore received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law.
