AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATES DOWN FOR NOVEMBER
Unemployment rates across the region declined for the month of November.
Data from the Texas Workforce Commission shows Washington County’s jobless rate decreased from 3.9 percent in October to 3.6 percent in November.
The number of unemployed residents fell from 595 in October to 544 last month.
Overall employment numbers rose from 14,595 to 14,715, while the total civilian labor force also grew from 15,190 to 15,259.
In November 2022, Washington County reported a 3.9 percent unemployment rate and 578 residents out of work.
Statewide, the unemployment rate stood at 4.1 percent for the seventh straight month.
Area counties also reported decreases in unemployment:
- Austin County – 3.3 percent, down from 3.6 percent in October.
- Brazos County – 2.6 percent, down from 2.9 percent.
- Burleson County – 3.3 percent, down from 3.6 percent.
- Fayette County – 2.9 percent, down from 3.3 percent in October.
- Grimes County – 3.8 percent, down from 4.3 percent.
- Lee County – 3.2 percent, down from 3.4 percent.
- Waller County – 4.3 percent, down from 4.7 percent.
