GRIMES CO. AUTHORITIES MAKE ARREST FOR METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION
A suspect was arrested over the weekend in Grimes County on drug and evidence tampering charges.

The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office says on Saturday around 5:15 p.m. in the Singleton area, a deputy spotted a silver minivan failing to yield for southbound traffic on Highway 90 as it exited FM 39 at a high rate of speed.
The deputy caught up with the minivan, which the sheriff’s office says committed several other traffic violations before stopping in a private driveway.
The driver was identified as Ronnie Dewain Zephyn, who the deputy knew did not have a driver’s license.
Zephyn gave consent to search his vehicle, and the deputy found a small amount of a white crystallized substance on the driver’s seat that later tested positive for methamphetamine. Two digital scales and multiple baggies were also recovered, along with a clear bag holding what the sheriff’s office called a “substantial” amount of the same white crystallized substance.
The deputy reviewed his front dash camera and reported observing Zephyn toss the clear bag out his window before exiting his vehicle.
The total amount of methamphetamine seized was 16.42 grams.
Zephyn was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair, Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Class C offenses.
