PUBLIC WORKSHOP ON IMPACT FEES THURSDAY

  

The City of Brenham will host a developers workshop tomorrow (Thursday) for the public to engage in discussion regarding the potential adoption of impact fees.

The workshop will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Barnhill Center.

Impact fees are imposed on developers to generate revenue or recoup costs of capital improvements or facility expansions associated with new development.

The city is currently in the process of considering the implementation of impact fees for water, wastewater and roadways as part of a formal impact fee study conducted with Strand Associates.  A capital improvements advisory committee has met three times to review and deliberate on the possible adoption of the fees.

The workshop will help citizens understand how impact fees work, showcase an analysis of land use and population assumptions and their impact on future development, and give an overview of the city’s capital improvement plans for water, wastewater and roadways. 

In addition, the workshop will provide an assessment of potential impact fees for Brenham with regional comparisons, show the city’s development and financial outlook, and outline the impact fee adoption process and the next steps.
