For the third consecutive year, Cubette bowling has won the Bluebonnet District as they defeated Bellville Sunday night 14-1 at Rose Bowl lanes.

Freshman Colleen Cole cemented her grip as the best female bowler in the District with games of 161 and 149 as she defeated Lea Martinez of Bellville.  Lea bowled well rolling games of 113 and 141 but it was not enough to overcome Colleen.

For Brenham, freshman Annalee Sawyer had the second best game on the day with a 152 and junior Makayla Hueske set a personal best with a high game of 139.

Senior Carlyn McCoy had two games over 100 (122-103), freshman Laina Nugent bowled 118.

In the team portion of the event, the Brenham team of McCoy, Nugent, Hueske, Sawyer, and Cole had games of 119-139-157 which was their highest of the year.

Those five ladies along with junior Reese Johnson, freshman Juliette Murphy, freshman Sophia Dubowik, and freshman Lindsey Hook will now compete at the Region 8 tournament in Cypress on March 3rd where they will compete against teams from Conroe, Montgomery and Katy for the right to go to the State Tournament in Fort Worth later this Spring.

The Boys were also in action on Sunday night and defeated Bellville 13-2.  Freshman Brayden Steele led all Cub bowlers with games of 179-186 (386), followed closely by Brett Campbell (359), Lane Janner (347), Mason Wolf (344), and Blaine Bartlett (341).

For Bellville Robbie Smith bowled his personal best district game with a 174 and led all Brahma bowlers with a 299 series.

The next Bluebonnet District match is January 28th, Brenham vs. Burton, 5:00 pm at Rose Bowl Lanes.
