FIVE CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. OVER WEEKEND

The Brenham Fire Department responded to three calls on Saturday and another two on Sunday.

At 9:45 a.m. Saturday, the department was dispatched to the 1800 block of Old Chappell Hill Road for a report of a crash.  Units arrived on location and placed dry absorbent on fluids that were leaking.  Once the fluids were cleaned up, the department provided traffic control until the roadway was cleared.

At 2:45 p.m., firefighters received a report of a gas leak in the 2000 block of Muscadine Trail.  They found the resident’s gas meter was leaking, but upon checking the inside of the home, were unable to locate any gas inside.  Units waited on scene until the City of Brenham Gas Department arrived and fixed the leak.

Just past 4 p.m., BFD members were dispatched to another gas leak, this one in the 300 block of Rodney Street.  They found the meter was leaking and secured the scene until the gas department made location.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the department went out to a structure fire in the 2300 block of Old Chappell Hill Road.  When firefighters arrived, they found an outbuilding behind the house that was fully involved.  Additional manpower was requested to put out the fire.  Once it was extinguished, the scene was turned over to the resident.

Approaching 6:15 p.m., units were called out to a fire alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, but they were cancelled enroute due to proper code given to the alarm company.
