BHS AVID STUDENT SELECTED AS A SCHOLARSHIP SEMI-FINALIST

  

The Brenham High School Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program is excited to announce that Juan Rodriguez Angeles was selected as a Semi-Finalist for the Dell Scholarship.

Juan is the first student in the history of Brenham ISD to make it this far in the Dell Scholarship competition, which targets highly motivated students who demonstrate the drive to succeed despite their personal obstacles.

It is a National Scholarship where the ideal candidate is selected based on grit, potential, and ambition.

Juan is a current senior at Brenham High School and has participated in the AVID program since 8th grade.

He is the middle of three siblings and will be the first in his family to attend college after having committed to the University of Texas at Tyler to pursue a degree in Early Education.

Juan has prepared for his future in education by dedicating two periods a day to tutoring AVID freshmen.

He assists students in resolving any confusion they have in their academic courses and uses critical thinking and questioning to help them further their understanding.

According to BISD, due to his guidance, Juan's tutorial students are exceeding in their courses.

BHS AVID and Brenham ISD said they are extremely proud of Juan and congratulate him for his recognition as a student who overcomes barriers and exceeds expectations.
