LA GRANGE FINALIZES DEAL WITH NEW CITY MANAGER

The City of La Grange has reached an agreement with their lone finalist for the vacant City Manager position, Jack Thompson.
Thompson is the current Assistant City Manager in Crowley, Texas, which is a suburb of Fort Worth.
He is a 1992 graduate of TCU, and has a Masters in Business Administration from UT-Arlington.
According to the Fayette County Record, Thompson’s starting pay will be $185,000 plus benefits, and he is scheduled to start with the City of La Grange on February 26.
Officials are hoping that Thompson’s hiring will end a revolving door since former City Manager Shawn Raborn retired in October of 2022.
The City Council had offered the job to two prior individuals, but could not agree on financial terms.
They hired their third choice, San Benito Assistant City Manager Fred Bell, in February 2023, but he resigned after just six months on the job, which necessitated a new search.
La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee has been serving as interim city manager until a permanent replacement could be found.
