SIX CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. OVER WEEKEND

Several accidents were among six total calls for the Brenham Fire Department over the weekend.

Around 7:15 a.m. Saturday, the department responded to a one-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of Gun and Rod Road.  Firefighters found a white four-door sedan that was lying on the driver’s side with major damage, after running off the roadway and striking a tree.  Units stood by while the Brenham Police Department conducted investigation.  They then used equipment to remove the patient from the vehicle.  Any injuries are unknown.

Just before 2 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a crash without entrapment in the 300 block of North Austin Parkway, but upon arrival were released from the scene by the police department.

Shortly before 4:15 p.m., units were sent out to West Alamo Street at South Austin Street for a crash.  They arrived to find a two-vehicle accident.  The vehicles were moved into a parking lot, and the fire department cleared the area.

Approaching 4:30 p.m., BFD members were called out to another crash, this one in the 2400 block of Highway 290 East.  They made location and found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage.  Units provided traffic control until law enforcement released them from the scene.

At 11:15 p.m., the department was dispatched for an unlock at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, but the door was already open upon arrival.

At 8 a.m. Sunday, firefighters responded to a home in the 300 block of West Bryan Street for a report of a gas smell outside of the house.  The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department found a small gas leak on the meter.  A gas employee also found that the gas grill was leaking.  They turned the grill off before returning to service.
