UNITY THEATRE OPENS ‘THE CRUCIBLE’ THURSDAY
A drama depicting the struggles with morality when fear takes root is the next production at Unity Theatre in Brenham.
Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” plays for three weekends on Unity’s Main Stage, starting tonight (Thursday) and continuing until February 25th.
The story is set in a Salem village in the spring of 1682, when a reverend finds a group of teenage girls dancing around a fire in the woods. When the reverend’s daughter begins showing strange symptoms, the town becomes frenzied with talk of witchcraft. Neighbor is pitted against neighbor, and the community is torn apart.
The production won the 1953 Tony Award for Best Play and is considered a landmark work in the canon of American drama.
Performances at Unity Theatre are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
