CUBETTE SOFTBALL OPENS SEASON TONIGHT (TUESDAY)

The Brenham Cubettes are set to begin another softball season later tonight (Tuesday).

The Cubettes are going to be playing host to the Caldwell Lady Hornets beginning at 6pm at Alumni Field in Brenham. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 5:35pm.

In something that doesn't happen very often, Brenham will be returning all of their starters from last season. That includes senior right-handed starting pitcher Della Jasinski in the circle. This will be Jasinski's fourth year of starting at the varsity level.

Junior Heidi Busker and sophomore Kylie Baker will also see time in the circle.

Junior Stella Landry will be handling the catching duties. She joined the Cubettes last season after transferring from Montgomery.

The right side of the infield will see senior Kaylyn Rodriguez at at first base, and sophomore McKenzie Tiemann at second base. Meanwhile, on the left side of the infield, junior Avery Maurer returns at shortstop, and senior Annie Beckendorf returns at third base.

The outfielders are going to be made up of at various times: seniors Halle Scheel and Nevaeh Holmes, plus juniors Sarah Mabie and Kinley Antkowiak.

Kaylie Rodriguez will be the designated player, and can also helped out in the infield or outfield.

Katie Roberts returns as head coach, and she will be joined by assistant coaches Megan Whalen and Olivia Van Hook.

The Cubettes have made the playoffs for the past three straight seasons, and are looking to return again. It is the start of a busy opening week for Brenham. They will also be hosting the Leadoff Classic Thursday-Saturday.
