PUBLIC HEARING TUESDAY FOR BURTON TRASH SERVICES

The Burton City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday regarding the city’s trash collection services.

The hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall and is to address the city’s existing contract with Texas Commercial Waste.

During the council’s meeting last week, councilmembers moved unanimously to proceed with terminating the contract with the provider, citing consumer complaints and the city’s changing needs.

The public hearing is part of that termination process and is intended to give citizens the opportunity to formally present any grievances or concerns they may have.

Mayor Karen Buck said last week that two other contract vendors have submitted bids to provide trash collection services for the city, but they cannot be reviewed yet since the current contract is still active.  If the contract is ended, the effective date is expected to be March 31st
