CUBETTES SPLIT TWO MORE GAMES ON DAY TWO IN DRIPPING SPRINGS
The second day of the Dripping Springs Tournament produced mixed results for the Brenham Cubette Softball Team as they defeated Converse Judson 2-1, but then lost to Leander 14-9.

Judson jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a run off of Cubette Starter Kylie Baker in the top of the first inning. That would turn out to be their only run of the game.
Brenham got their two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sarah Mabie reached on an two-out single, and Annie Beckendorf drew a walk. Kaylie Rodriguez then reached on an error that allowed both Mabie and Beckendorf to score to put the Cubettes in front 2-1.

Leander jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning after hitting back-to-back home runs off of Cubette Starter Della Jasinski.
The Lady Lions added three more runs in the top of the second and one run in the top of the third to take a 7-0 lead.
Brenham finally got on the board in the bottom of the third. McKenzie Tiemann doubled and later came home on an error. Avery Maurer walked and scored on a the front end of a double steal with Halle Scheel to cut the lead to 7-2.
Leander picked up additional runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to make it 9-2 Lions. They would then add five runs in the top of the 6th to make it 14-2.
Brenham fought back with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth. Maurer and Scheel led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Maurer scored on an RBI single by Kaylyn Rodriguez. Sarah Mabie followed with an RBI double that scored Scheel to cut the lead to 14-4.
Annie Beckendorf hit a two-run double to bring home Rodriguez and Mabie to make 14-6 Leander. Nevaeh Holmes was hit by a pitch and Stella Landry walked to load the bases. McKenzie Tiemann was hit by a pitch that scored Beckendorf. Maurer singled in Holmes to cut it to a 14-8 game. Halle Scheel grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed courtesy runner Kinley Antkowiak to score the ninth run.

The Cubettes wrap up the tournament tomorrow (Saturday) with games at Georgetown East View High School. They will take on Cedar Park at 9am and Colleyville Heritage at 11am.
