HEMPSTEAD ISD CALLS FOR $45.7 MILLION BOND ELECTION

  

The Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees has called for a school bond election that will be placed on the May 4th Ballot.

According to their website, the Board has not gone to taxpayers for a bond issue since 2006.

The Hempstead ISD total tax rate is the lowest it has been in 20 years, at a total of 95.13 cents per $100 valuation. The 2024 bond would result in a 13-cent tax rate increase to the school district tax rate.

The $45,720,000 proposal will be presented to the voters with two different propositions on the ballot. 

Proposition A for $42,320,000 includes:

A replacement campus for the Hempstead Early Childhood Education Center,

A Cafeteria and Band Hall addition at Hempstead High School,

An auxiliary gym addition, roof replacement, and an enclosed connector to the Cafeteria and Band Hall at Hempstead Middle School,

An enclosed connector between all four buildings at Hempstead Elementary School,

A concession stand and restroom building at the baseball field,

Plus, HVAC Unit replacements, control upgrades, testing, and balance districtwide

Proposition B for $3,400,000 includes:

A new synthetic turf field and track at Bobcat Stadium 

Early voting in the bond election runs April 22-30 at any Early Voting Center in Waller County. Election Day is Saturday, May 4th.
