The Hempstead ISD Board of Trustees has called for a school bond election that will be placed on the May 4th Ballot.

According to their website, the Board has not gone to taxpayers for a bond issue since 2006.

The Hempstead ISD total tax rate is the lowest it has been in 20 years, at a total of 95.13 cents per $100 valuation. The 2024 bond would result in a 13-cent tax rate increase to the school district tax rate.

Proposition A for $42,320,000 includes:

An auxiliary gym addition, roof replacement, and an enclosed connector to the Cafeteria and Band Hall at Hempstead Middle School,

An enclosed connector between all four buildings at Hempstead Elementary School,

A concession stand and restroom building at the baseball field,

Plus, HVAC Unit replacements, control upgrades, testing, and balance districtwide

Proposition B for $3,400,000 includes:

A new synthetic turf field and track at Bobcat Stadium
