CUBETTES PICK UP SECOND WIN OF DAY

The Brenham Cubettes wrapped up day two of the Brenham Tournament with a 10-4 victory over Midland Legacy at Alumni Field.

The Cubettes got it started in the bottom of the first inning. Avery Maurer led it off with a single, and stole second. She then tagged and moved to third on a fly ball by Halle Scheel.

Kaylyn Rodriguez then drove her in with an RBI triple. Sarah Mabie followed with a sacrifice fly to score Rodriguez and make it 2-0 Cubettes.

Legacy got a run back in the top of the second to cut the lead to 2-1.

Brenham got back on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Kaylyn Rodriguez hit a two-out single, Mabie walked, and then Annie Beckendorf singled home Rodriguez.

Kaylie Rodriguez then came up and hit a two run single to bring in Mabie and Beckendorf. McKenzie Tiemann followed by reaching on an error to to score Rodriguez, and give the Cubettes a 6-1 advantage.

Midland cut the lead in half with two runs in the top of the 4th to make it 6-3 Brenham.

In the bottom of the fourth, Nevaeh Holmes, and Maurer drew back-to-back walks. Scheel grounded out to second base, which allowed Holmes to score. Maurer would later score on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 8-3 Cubettes.

Legacy got their final run in the top of the fifth to cut it to an 8-4 deficit.

Beckendorf led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, and two batters later Tiemann also singled. Stele Landry doubled home Beckendorf, and then Holmes had a sac fly to score Tiemann to finish out the scoring at 10-4 Brenham.

The Cubettes wrap up the tournament on Saturday with games against Klein Forest at 10am, and 12 noon at Conroe.
