PANTHERS OPEN BURTON TOURNAMENT WITH A WIN
The Burton Panthers opened the Burton Tournament with a 4-2 win over the Rosebud-Lott Cougars on Thursday.
Burton got on the board first with in the bottom of the third inning. Logun Tosta drew a two-out walk, and stole second base. Colby Beck followed with an infield hit that allowed Tosta to score to make it 1-0 Panthers.
The Cougars tied it with a run in the top of the 4th to even it at 1-1.
Burton went back in front in the bottom of the fourth. Bryson Biggs hit a one-out single, and two batters later, scored on an RBI double by younger brother, Ryder Biggs. That score made it 2-1 Panthers.
Rosebud-Lott then tied it again with a run in the top of the fifth that evened it at 2-2.
Burton would go back out in front in the bottom of the fifth inning. Tyler Whitt singled, and stole second base. Colby Beck was then hit by a pitch. The runners would move over on a balk by the Cougar pitcher. Reuben Rodriguez followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Witt to increase the lead to 3-2. Beck then scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2 Panthers.
