FOUR WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls over the weekend.
At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to the 2900 block of Victory Lane for a crash. They arrived to find a minor two-vehicle accident and remained on scene for traffic control until Brenham police cleared them from the call.
Around 9:15 p.m., the department went out to a crash in the 2400 block of Highway 290 East. However, police were already on location with the vehicle and released firefighters from the scene.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday, BFD members received a report of a crash in the 2800 block of Highway 36 South. When they arrived, they found a minor accident in the parking lot. Brenham police were already on site and released the fire department from the call.
Just before 11 p.m., units were dispatched to a fire alarm in the 800 block of West Third Street. When they made location, they found a smoke haze in the laundry room coming from a washing machine with a broken, overheated belt. The washing machine was unplugged and taken out of service, and firefighters returned to service.
