BLINN TO OFFER FAFSA INFORMATION SESSIONS
As students and their families adapt to the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA, the Blinn College Financial Aid Department is offering support with a pair of upcoming information sessions.
The sessions are being held on Thursday, March 21, and Wednesday, March 27, at the W.L. Moody Library on the Brenham Campus.
The goal of the sessions is to assist current and future students with the application process by providing expert guidance for completing the 2024-2025 FAFSA forms.
There will be multiple sessions held each day. On March 21, the sessions are from 10am-12 noon, 2-4pm, and 4-6pm. On March 27, the sessions are from 10am-12 noon and 2-4pm. No appointments are necessary.
Blinn Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships Joshua Lowry acknowledged the challenges posed by the delayed release and technical hurdles of the new FAFSA.
Lowry said that with the late release and technical issues, requests for FAFSA assistance and attendance at outreach events have been much higher.
The Financial Aid Department encourages students and parents to take advantage of the sessions as soon as possible, and to receive additional guidance on the next step once the application is submitted.
Students are urged to make it a priority to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA as soon as possible for the fall 2024 semester. The new application has approximately 35 questions for most filers, compared to more than 100 in previous years.
In addition to the sessions, Blinn offers a convenient financial aid queue where students can request a call back from an advisor. The Buccaneer Financial Aid Queue is available at www.blinn.edu/financial-aid.
