BURTON PANTHERS WIN FIRST TWO AT WEIMAR TOURNAMENT
The Burton Panther Baseball Team picked up a pair of wins on the first day of the Weimar Tournament.
BURTON 6 ONALASKA 4
Onalaska jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning.
In the bottom of the first for Burton, Tyler Witt drew a lead-off walk, Braydon Martin hit a single to left, and Colby Beck walked to load the bases. Bryson Biggs brought them all home with a three-run triple. Reuben Rodriguez followed with an RBI single to bring home Biggs and give the Panthers a 4-1 lead.
The Panthers added a run in the bottom of the third. Beck reached on a single, and came around to score on an RBI single by Rodriguez to make it 5-1 Burton.
The Wildcats came back with a run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 5-2.
Burton would get one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ryder Biggs reached on an error. Brady Griffin sacrificed bunted him to second. Biggs would later come home on an RBI single by Eli Jaeger to make it 6-2.
Onalaska scored twice in the top of the 7th off Witt, who was the starting pitcher. Bryson Biggs came on and got the last two outs to get the save and preserve the win.

The Panthers struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Tyler Witt singled to left field. Logun Tosta reached on an infield hit, and then an error allowed Witt to score and Tosta to go to second. Braydon Martin drew a walk, and then Colby Beck reached on an infield hit. Tosta was erased trying to go to third. Two batters later, Reuben Rodriguez singled home Martin to make it 2-0 Panthers.
In the bottom of the first, Weimar scored their first run of the game on a steal of home to cut the lead to 2-1.
Tosta led off the top of the third inning with a double. Martin reached on a Weimar fielding error that allowed Tosta to score and make it 3-1 Panthers.
Weimar tied it in the bottom of the third with a pair of runs off of Burton's starting pitcher Beck to make it 3-3.
The Wildcats would then go in front 4-3 with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
The Panthers came back to win it by scoring twice in the fifth. Martin singled, and then Beck was hit by a pitch. Rodriguez reached on a error, which also led to Martin and Beck scoring the tying and go-ahead runs to give Burton the lead 6-4.
Bryson Biggs came on in the bottom of the fifth and shut down Weimar to preserve the Burton win.
Next up, the Panthers will face Bosqueville this (Friday) morning at 11am.
