CEDAR RIDGE SHUTOUTS OUT CUBS 2-0

The Cedar Ridge Raiders shutout the Brenham Cubs 2-0 at Leroy Dreyer Field on the final day of the Brenham Alumni Tournament.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third, when Cedar Ridge got a run home on a groundout to make it 1-0.

Their second run came in the sixth inning on a double followed by an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead.

Brenham had a couple of chances to get on the scoreboard in the fifth inning and the sixth inning. In both instances, they loaded the bases with only one out, but were unable to get a run home.

Preston Lee pitched well, but was tagged with a tough luck loss. He went seven innings allowing only two runs, while scattering eight hits. He also walked two and struck out three.

Brenham managed only four hits in the game, all singles, by Barrett Kohring, Owen Finke, Drake Bentke, and Blaine Bartlett.

The Cubs open district play on Tuesday night as they travel to College Station High School for a 7pm game.
