FIVE CALLS MONDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Monday.

Shortly after 8:45 a.m., the department was called out to MOD Pizza, 990 Highway 290 East, for a fire alarm sounding.  Firefighters arrived to find the alarm company had already reset the alarm, so they returned to service.

Just before 9 a.m., units were dispatched to a home in the 2500 block of Gun and Rod Road for a report of a structure fire.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the home when they made location, but they entered and found burnt wiring in the A/C unit in the attic space.  Firefighters turned the power off and ventilated the smoke from the home.

Just past 9:30 a.m., BFD members were sent out to James Avery, 940 Highway 290 East, for an alarm sounding.  They arrived and found alarms going off in two businesses.  Units found a bad detector inside the alarm panel room and reset the alarm.

Around 2 p.m., the department received another report of an alarm, this one at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  However, units were cancelled and the alarm was reset, as the department said the alarm was pulled for a behavioral issue.

Approaching 2:15 p.m., firefighters responded to Ulta Beauty, 974 Highway 290 East, for a smoke investigation.  They made location and found nothing showing from the outside of the building, but they did smell smoke inside the building.  After checking, they discovered it was coming from the A/C unit on top of the roof.  A repair company was on the roof fixing the A/C.  The fire department cleared the scene.
