COLLEGE STATION RALLIES LATE TO BEAT CUBS 4-3
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team was a half-inning away from securing a win in their first district game, but unfortunately for them, the College Station Cougars had other plans.
The Cubs got on the board early. Barrett Kohring reached on an error. Owen Finke laid down a sacrifice bunt to get Kohring to third. Kohring then scored on an RBI groundout by Drake Bentke, which put Brenham up 1-0.
Neither team would score again until the seventh inning. Luke Hardy started the inning by drawing a walk. He then took second base, and later third base, both on wild pitches. Hardy would score on a sacrifice fly by Tanner Reese that made it 2-0 Cubs.
Landry Mendoza drew a walk, and Phillip Diehl followed with a single. Brady Rau then reached on an error, which also allowed Mendoza to come around and score to give Brenham a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.
With one out, the Cougars proceeded to load the bases against Cub starter Brody Hemann. Dawson Keim was brought in to pitch. After hitting the first batter with the bases loaded, Keim gave up a walk-off three-run triple to College Station's Nate Urban. The Cougars would get the 4-3 win.
