FIVE CALLS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Thursday.

Around 9:45 a.m., the department was dispatched to a fire alarm at Cato Construction, 1906 Longwood Drive, but proper code was given to the alarm company for cancellation while firefighters were enroute.

Shortly after 11 a.m., units were called out to a fire alarm at Lowe’s, 2750 Highway 36 South.  They arrived and found the water flow alarm going off.  Personnel checked the building and alarm system but found nothing, so they advised the business to get the alarm company to check the system out.

Around 11:30 a.m., BFD members went out to a crash in the 2100 block of South Day Street.  They made location and found a two-vehicle accident.  The department provided traffic control and removed debris from the roadway.  Once the vehicles were removed, firefighters cleared the scene.

At 3:15 p.m., units were dispatched to another crash, this one in the 200 block of Highway 290 West.  At the scene, they found a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries.  Firefighters provided traffic control and debris cleanup until both vehicles were removed, and once the roadway was cleared, they returned to service.

Just past 6:30 p.m., the department responded to a fire alarm at a home in the 900 block of Farm Path.  Units discovered a smoke detector was going off, but the detector was determined to be defective, so they returned to the station.
