Local Toys for Tots coordinators Amanda Stolz and Christi Yackel presented the Brenham Fire Department on Tuesday with an appreciation plaque, given in honor of the department’s continued assistance with the toy drive.

Accepting the plaque on behalf of the department were BFD member Jonathan Schramm and Brenham Firefighters Association President Robert Aguilar.

Toys for Tots is a nationally supported nonprofit organization that seeks to ensure every child has gifts for Christmas.  Volunteers for the event seek sponsors, collect donations, and sort, group and distribute gifts.

This past year, the Washington County toy drive supported approximately 1,019 families.

The fire department says it is proud to work beside Stolz and Yackel and thanks them for the work they do for this program.  It says it looks forward to the next toy drive and to “blessing more families in need.”
