BURTON CITY COUNCIL MEETS ON TUESDAY

Burton City Council (Joshua Blascke)

After being pushed back last week due to a lack of a quorum, the Burton City Council is scheduled for their next meeting this Tuesday evening.

The council is going to discuss implementing a moratorium on new buildings, development, and/or utility connections from the City’s Service Area due to the water system being near capacity, and the aging infrastructure of the City’s water and sewer systems.

Council members are also going to discuss hiring an Engineering Firm to evaluate the City’s future water and wastewater system needs.

Other agenda items include:

A public hearing on the City’s 2024-2025 proposed budget followed by a motion on whether or not to accept it.

Acceptance of an Engagement Letter submitted by Medack & Oltmann LLP to perform the annual audit for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024

A list of road repairs to complete in 2024

A motion to accept the City Secretary’s certification of unopposed candidates and an ordinance to cancel the May 4 General Election.

The Burton City Council meets on Tuesday at 5:30pm in the Burton City Hall.
