FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARNS OF SCAMS

  

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek is warning residents of a phone scam that has been reported to his office.

Korenek said that are receiving scam reports that someone is calling citizens of Fayette County and claiming to be from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The callers are telling potential victims that they have warrants and the Sheriff’s Office is collecting fees over the phone.

Korenek explained that this is not a normal practice and his office would not notify anyone via phone about warrants, or to collect any fees.

Similar incidents were reported in Colorado County and Lee County recently.

The Sheriff’s Office urges resident to please not fall victim by giving anyone your personal or bank account information!
