BRENHAM’S GONZALEZ WINS STATE POWER LIFTING MEET

Brenham High School has a new State Champion!

Michael Gonzalez is the New Texas High School Power Lifting Association Champion in the 165 pound weight class.

Gonzalez competed at the State Meet in Abilene on Saturday. In the process of setting of winning the Championship, he also set a new State Record with a combined lift of 1,660 pounds.

The totals were made up of a 660-pound squat, a 400-pound bench press, and a 600 pound dead lift. All three individual totals were also personal records for Rodriguez.

Brenham's John Rigsby also competed in the State Meet in the 181 pound weight class.

While he didn't medal, Rigsby had a combined lift of 1,375 pounds. This included a 490-pound squat, a 375-pound bench press, which was a personal best, and a 510-pound deadlift.
