GIDDINGS HOSTING HIGHWAY 290 MOBILITY WORKSHOP APRIL 9

TxDOT will hold a community workshop for Lee County residents and businesses to give feedback as part of a Highway 290 mobility study.

The come-and-go event will be held on Tuesday, April 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Giddings High School, 2337 North Main Street.

The study is meant to address current traffic issues in downtown Giddings and plan for future growth with collaboration from local stakeholders and the public.  At the meeting, TxDOT will share feedback received on potential mobility improvements and relief route options and discuss how they will be considered.

Through the study, TxDOT will develop and evaluate preliminary options to improve mobility, safety and emergency response times while also rectifying conflicts with the railroad in Giddings.  Further project development, including schematic design, environmental review and funding, will depend on the outcome of the study.

For those unable to attend the workshop in person, workshop materials will be posted online at www.txdot.gov on the day of the meeting by 5 p.m.

Written comments can be submitted at the workshop or emailed to giddingsmobilitystudy@gmail.com.  They can also be sent by regular mail to Minhdang Bennett, US 290 Giddings Mobility Study, 1608 West 6th Street, Austin, TX 78703.

Feedback must be submitted by Wednesday, April 24th
