SIX CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. SUNDAY

  

The Brenham Fire Department was called out six times on Sunday.

Shortly before 10:15 a.m., the department was dispatched to a crash in the 300 block of Highway 36 North.  Firefighters arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with no fluid mitigation needed.  They provided traffic control while law enforcement was on scene.

At 10:45 a.m., units responded to a gas spill at the Exxon station at 2145 Highway 290 West.  They found gasoline had spilled from the pump and proceeded to remove the hazard before returning to service.

At 1:30 p.m., firefighters were sent out to a fire alarm at Super 8 by Wyndham, 2209 Highway 290 East.  They made location to find burnt popcorn in a room, with the resident doing natural ventilation.  The alarm was reset.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., BFD members received a report of a crash in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West.  They arrived to find a two-vehicle accident.  No fluid cleanup was needed, so firefighters returned to service.

Approaching 4:30 p.m., the department responded to an electric service call at a home in the 800 block of West Lubbock Street.  Units discovered a tree limb had fallen, causing a power line to come down.  They stood by until the City of Brenham Electric Department made location before clearing the scene.

A few minutes after 4:30 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for a smoke investigation at BK Auto Repair, 2729 Highway 105.  They found that the landowner was burning brush piles at the location.  No further action by the department was needed.
