SCHULENBURG MAN ARRESTED WITH DRUGS AND A CHILD

A Schulenburg man was taken into custody on Wednesday after a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy found him with drugs and child in his vehicle.

According to a report from the office of Sheriff Keith Korenek, at 4:45pm, Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Hyundai Sonata for a traffic infraction near La Grange.

Sgt. Meagher made contact with the driver, 53-year-old Edward Jones, who had a 2-year-old child in the back seat.

After an investigation, narcotics were allegedly located inside the vehicle and on Jones’ person. 

Meagher said in his report that Jones admitted to attempting to hide cocaine in a seat pocket, which was in reach of the child.

Jones was arrested and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center. 

He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Greater than or Equal to One Gram, but Less Than Four Grams, Possession of a Controlled Substance Less Than 28 Grams, Possession of Marijuana Under 2 oz., Abandoning/Endangering a Child, and Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence.
