A large fire in Warrenton on Thursday destroyed two structures and caused significant damage to the Warrenton Fire Station.

Firefighters arrived at the station that morning to find the building on fire, and close to their fire trucks.

Round Top-Warrenton Assistant Fire Chief Calvin Krause told the Fayette County Record that they were able to get the trucks outside of the building, and then use them to fight the fires.

The Fayetteville and Carmine Volunteer Fire Departments came to the scene to help extinguish the flames.

Two buildings that were used by vendors during the recent Antiques Show were completely destroyed.

Firefighters were able to stop the blaze before it reached Zapp Hall in downtown Warrenton.

Zapp Hall is a historic dance hall that dates back to the 1900’s, and has become a big part of the antiques shows in that area.

There was also minor damage done to the exterior of the Warrenton Grocery Store Building.

Assistant Chief Krause also told the Record that he thinks the Warrenton Fire Station building can be saved, but it will need extensive repair work.

The cause of the fire is under a further investigation.
