FIVE WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department was called out twice on Saturday and three times on Sunday.
Just after 7:15 a.m. Saturday, the department responded to the 800 block of West Second Street for a fire alarm. Firefighters received a request from the Blinn Police Department to reset the alarm at the location. The alarm was reset, and units returned to service.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m. firefighters were dispatched for a grass fire at Highway 290 East and Handley Street. A small grass fire was found on the side of the feeder road. The fire was extinguished, and the department cleared the call.
At 10:15 a.m. Sunday, BFD members responded along with the Salem Volunteer Fire Department for a vehicle fire in the 8900 block of Highway 290 East. Salem firefighters arrived first and cancelled Brenham units.
Just before 1 p.m., the department received a report of illegal burning at a home on North Park Street and Sayles Street. A small fire was found in the backyard, but it was extinguished by the homeowner due to ordinance violation.
Just past 6:15 p.m., firefighters went out to the 1400 block of North Park Street for a child locked inside a vehicle. They arrived and used a lockout kit to unlock the vehicle before clearing the scene.
