BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO INTERVIEW SUPT. CANDIDATES

The Burton School Board will interview candidates on Tuesday for the role of Burton ISD superintendent.

The meeting follows the one held by trustees this past Tuesday, where they evaluated and screened applications for the position.

The board is working with Powell Law Group to conduct the search for a new superintendent, following the retirement of former superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy in March.  Dr. Rob Barnwell, a retired superintendent from Jefferson ISD, has taken on the role as an interim.

Thus far, the district has not provided a formal timeline regarding the superintendent hiring process or stated how many candidates are being interviewed.

When trustees first brought on Powell Law Group on March 19th, the firm told them that the most condensed timeline would begin interviews on April 29th and have a lone finalist named on May 10th, prior to that candidate’s start date on June 3rd.  However, those dates could be influenced by the district’s trustee election.

The board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Burton ISD Administration Office.
