Sheriff Don Sowell explained that with the rise of burglaries of Dollar General stores locally and in surrounding counties, they quickly responded and coordinated to cover all routes leaving Grimes County.

At 2am, nine minutes after getting the call, a Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a gray Lincoln Navigator that was traveling east on Highway 30 near the intersection with Highway 90 for an obscured rear license plate.

The Deputy noticed that the front-seat passenger was trying to conceal himself.

Security camera footage from the business later confirmed that the two males detained at the traffic stop were the same two individuals that broke into the store.

Terrance Benjamin and Kenneth Morris, both of Houston, were arrested and charged with Burglary of a Building, a State Jail Felony.

According to a press release, these individuals may be linked to multiple burglaries in surrounding counties.

Anyone with further information regarding the suspects, or the burglary is asked to contact the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office at 936-873-2151, or Grimes County Crimes Stoppers at www.P3tips.com.
